Florida Man Calls 911 to Report His Wife is a Black Widow Spider

Florida Man was arrested for calling police to report that his wife was actually a “black widow spider”.
61-year-old William Rutger from Tarpon Springs first called 911 at about 1:30AM on a Tuesday morning., Rutger called for the first time to tell the operator that he was “married to an arachnid”. He also wanted her to be Baker Acted.
The caller, according to a responding officer, was reportedly slurring his words and appeared intoxicated. Officer Jacob Miller told Rutger that the 911 system was for emergencies only. He did not arrest at that time. But in the police report he did state that Rutger had “Slurred Speech, had an odor of alcoholic beverage emanate from his breath and person, and did not express coherent thoughts.”
A couple hours later, after 3AM, Rutger called 911 again. He again told the dispatcher that his wife was a black widow spider.
Rutger was then arrested and charged with misusing the 911 system.
The Smoking Gun reported Rutger is the author of the 2009 book The Alcoholic’s Guide To AdventureThe book is “a lighthearted jaunt into the sublime world of drunken decadence,” according to its listing on Amazon.
